Here are some videos of what the fight between Goku and Superman would be like. Goku is probably one of the most powerful fighters on earth, but Superman is indestructible. Goku has faced enemies before that were indestructible, such as Majin Buu and Cell.
Some people might say the Superman is to fast for Goku. Frankly, I’m convinced that if Goku were in the DC universe, he’d get everywhere he’s going in seconds. Conversely, if Supes were in the DBZ universe, it would take him forever to get somewhere, just like it does the Z-Fighters, no matter how fast they get. Seriously, the is an anomily tha there are examples of. In the Buu Saga, it takes Kuririn about 10 minutes to go from the Tenkaichi Bodukai to Babidi’s ship. Then a few episodes later, it take Trunks and Goten in Super Saiyan mode several episodes to cover that same difference. They should have covered it in seconds. The fact that it takes the Z-Fighters any time at all to get anywhere is just plot induced stupidity.

Not once, NOT ONCE do I remember an instance where Goku has lost the will to win, or lost the belief that the battle could be won. It doesn’t matter what you do, this guy will keep working to defeat you. I’ve seen him giving telepathic messages to people to help them defeat a foe, I’ve seen him plung into battle, I’ve seen him BACK OFF from fighting someone just because he realizes that he’s not the best one for the job and will give the one who can advice and props, I’ve even seen him leave Heaven for crying out loud to save people he cares about! The only way I’ve ever seen people knock Goku out of the fight permanently is to beat the living shit outta him, break both his arms and legs, break his jaw, and then knock him unconscious. That way, there’s no way in hell he can get back into physical battle, and he won’t be able to talk to give advice, and being unconscious keeps him from doing it telepathically. And by simply NOT KILLING HIM, he won’t do any of the above from Heaven.
If you havent noticed Goku is kinda a Superman rip-off, but the idea is cranked up from 4 to 999. As they both came from other planets that were destroyed, look at this, Supes was sent by his folks who were so sappy doing it, since they knew the planet was going to blow, but was too dumb to get off themselves (along with the rest of the Kryptonian race). Supes lands on earth, raised by country folk, and LIVES A NORMAL LIFE (with powers on the ‘down low’ (secret to those folks who dont know what that means))until growing up and becoming a regular ol’ joe reporter with a decent salary. Goku on the other hand had a simular opening, but it was for him to DESTROY the planet’s inhabitants. And the fact that planet Vegeta vas destroyed, was that it was done at the hands of someone, (who could probhably whup Superman too!) who Goku eventually beats, (and his brother, TWICE!!!) On Earth he was taken in and primarily trained by a KARATE MASTER! And he has been fighting his entire life! And when he get’s older, he fights harder, stronger, and packs a punch that’ll make Superman wanna get on the first bus back to Smallville.

MaNiak is far to closed minded. Although he occasionally makes a valid point, he mostly waists space with irrelative talk. This disscusion isnt about which character is more popular, its about who would win in a fight. Superman prime is INVINCIBLE. Goku has died before and therefor still can (even though he comes back). I think killing him constitutes a victory even if he comes back later so he can get killed again. And don’t hate on Poke’mon cause that show had a way better script unlike DBZ where he keeps getting reserrected

I simply love how Superman fans try to say that he is stronger than Goku just because he can hold a black hole in his hands. In the real world of shows without faggotry black holes have no substance. This is a pretty pointless argument. Everyone keeps changing the rules as they are going along. The original question was Superman vs. Goku. There are multiple versions of Superman that people think of when they say Superman and they need to be compared separately.
When it comes to Goku you have to think about canon– meaning if you are discussing manga material only, cartoon material (including what people argue is ‘filler’), whether DB GT is included or not, and then there are videos that are basically considered alternate universe versions.
To keep the argument rational, compare specific versions.
In my opinion, DBZ cartoon canon Goku at fully powered SSJ3 at the conclusion of the series (which I think is what most Goku fans have in mind) defeats most versions of Superman. These include:
Golden Age Superman (comics), modern comics Superman (Post-Crisis), TV series Superman, DC Animated Superman, Smallville TV series Superman, and movies Superman (possibly not including Superman Returns version). All of these versions of Superman were shown to be hurt by super-powerful blows without having to be weakened by red sun or kryptonite first.
The only mainstream version of Superman that I don’t think Goku would beat is Silver Age/Pre-Crisis Superman. This version of Superman has never been shown to take damage from physical or energy attacks unless these were magical, kyrptonite related, or red sun related.
There are multiple other versions of Superman that are also potentially powerful enough to be greater than Goku: Superman Prime 1 million, All-Star Superman, Cal Kent, Superboy Prime (now calling himself Superman Prime) and possibly a few others. Most of these Superman versions are alternates of SA Superman or have not been shown to have upper limits of power.
Of course, there are alternate versions of Goku as well that might actually be on par with some of these alternate versions. There is a post DB GT version who is essentially an omnipotent dragon god with reality warping powers. This version might be the same as Superman Prime One million. Who knows?
Of course, some fans can’t let it go at that and have to bring completely irrelevant characters in to show that their preferred universe wins. In DC there’s TOAA (The One Above All). But in the DB universe, there’s an equivalent power: Tori-bot. Both are imaginary avatars of the writers with no limits on their power other than what the writer wants there to be.

As I’ve read the list of abilitlies and fighters, I’ve come to accept that this match will forever be undecided. If DB goku died or got knocked out he lost, but he always comes back. If superman mainstream were beaten, he’d think of a better plan to come back, so it’d be like an infinite game of who’s gonna get who first. Goku does have martial art techniche, but Superman has fighting experiences. Supes has a measure of speed and strength while Goku doesn’t as in his speed and strength are always fluctiating. Superman prime and post gt Goku are considered equal in some cases if neither can die or feel pain (Assuming Dragon god goku has this luxury.) The fight would never end . All in all each side can see a way for their favorite guy to win and the other to lose, so this will go down as uncertian, besides if superman (and hero version) is good why and how would goku fight him (Gt goku dragongod wouldn’t fight him if he’s not a really bad threat and supes doesn’t just go out looking for a fight. If they did meet they’d most likely help eachother to get back to their realm and maybe spar eachother until they decide to quit.) A long way of saying this is a tie.

A Goku/super man battle I invision as going like this. A super baddie comes along and threatens to destroy the earth if Goku and Supes didn’t fight to the death. I’m Pretty sure the only reason Goku would fight Supes would be in a situation similar to Dc vs. Marvel where the losing person’s universe would cease to exist. In a situation like that, I’d have to admit that Goku would be victorious.
I personally think Krillin would kill Superman easily. There is a book I have that goes over the different aspects of DBZ, and points out that most of the Z-Fighters have so much power, that if they do not control their Ki at all times, the sheer presence of them would destroy the planet.

1………..Superman Moved planet earth way from the sun, pushing against a cosmic being that was pushing it to the sun. Enough said.
2. Gathering energy from the universe is fatal to Goku, since he would have to stand still and raise his hands up, as if he’s charging a SB. plus, his energy supply has limits, and Superman doesn’t. Goku could try and take him to a planet with a red sun, but I doubt that it’ll work, as Superman would probably break free of any kind of grapple that he may have on him during instant transmission, leaving them drifting in space. And even in the slight chance that he’s successful, he won’t lose energy automatically. It will slowly diminish.
3. If Goku uses instant transmission, Superman will still see him, thanks to a level of visual perception that allows him to keep up with flash before the Flash starts to go way beyond the light barrier. This will also allow them to have that super fast paced fight that’s natural in the DB world.
4. Superman chills out in the sun. and Goku would die if he goes into the sun.
There’s more, but the more I go, only more reasons would be stated as to why Superman would win. We all love DBZ, but Superman is literally just more stronger. Majin Buu might stand a better chance, seeing as he’s magic.
As much as it pains me, I have to throw into the Superman camp as well. In terms of physicality Superman takes the cake which means that any “magical” attack Goku would dish out could be easily avoided all together. Moreover, Goku’s energy, while vast, is not as infinite as the sun where Superman gets his mojo. Unless Goku wants to destroy the sun (a very uncharacteristic move), he will eventually tire out long before Superman does. And, finally, the Spirit Bomb would be useless against Superman, because, remember, it only affects those of an “impure” heart. By all standards, Superman has a pure heart.
That said, I don’t think it would be absolute trump town. Goku’s hand to hand skill probably far exceeds that of Superman’s and, as the OP pointed out, Goku is nothing if not tenacious and cunning. It’s unlikely Superman would be willing to jump straight to the crumping and Goku would likely use this to his advantage. Honestly, I think this fight would end when Goku hit SS4 and realized even that wasn’t enough to match Superman’s strength and speed.
Now, Superman vs. Super Buu (I fully hold that Kid Buu was less powerful that Super Buu) would be neat…

I’m sorry to all of you superman fans, but I’ve found a flaw in everybody’s logic. After Goku gets to SSJ4 it would be a mildly tough fight for superman, but at the end of the series Goku gets the DragonBalls absorbed into him and becomes a god who can wish for anything at anytime. He can control life and death. he can grant himself new powers, he can wish for Superman to die. At the end of GT he is pretty much God, no, even better- Chuck Norris. But not taking that into account, superman, almost hands down (unless Goku is a galaxy buster, which has not been proven).
Oh, also in Goku’s god form, I would have to say that it is greater than the sun. (I’m sorry but it is the truth) poor Superman fans…

IF and i greatly stress if goku gets injured he will go to his highest level transformation. its honestly no contest from there. goku beats superman to the point that superman cant fight anymore. being the nice guy that goku is he would probably give superman a senzu bean and tells him never to show his face on earth again. if superman is as smart as superman noobs think he is he would take gokus advice. if hes not goku kills him on the spot with either a super dragon fist or a full power kamehameha.

Goku powers up and destroys planets. The DBGT saga ended a long time ago, and if he would have continued training like he for sure would have, by now he could probably reach ssj6 or so. At this form just blinking would destroy the universe and rip it a new asshole, then bring it all back. Sure superman is literally invincible, but at Goku’s power level he would create a new dimension that superman is slightly vulnerable in and bend him over. Even if Goku couldn’t reach beyond ssj4 by now, every time superman would kill Goku, he would just come back stronger than ever, like Saiyans naturally do, and over time, would become more powerful than superman. I honestly think the creators of Goku just sat down and said “Lets make a show about someone who is more overpowered than god himself, and just show his progress.” I love superman and all, but Goku’s just ridiculously overpowered. Goku would bend the rules of anything, and his power is incomprehensible, you can’t even imagine a fraction of what Goku could do, I guarantee he could beat God in a fight. God would use power beyond comprehensiveness, then Goku would shake it off and create a new reality that just being inside of it would make god cry like a little girl. He’s too overpowered guys, it isn’t even fair. Superman may have survived a galaxy destroying blast, but Goku would survive an existence destroying blast and just create a new one.
Goku absorbed the dragon balls, allowing him to wish anything including superman’s death. If he couldn’t overpower him in a fight, he would wish for a new existence without an exit, no exceptions whatsoever and for superman to be trapped inside forever. Or just wish for a limitless amount of power, that quadrillions more potent than superman’s, and just kill him by smiling at him. No contest at all.
That said, if you don’t count the wishing power Goku has, he would still just come back more powerful than before every time he was defeated, eventually being able to overpower superman.
That too, being said. Without any of these two abilities being counted into play which they both would be, but for some odd reason if they weren’t, Goku is still far superior to superman and I’ll tell you why. Near the beginning of the DB series, While Kid-Goku still has his tail, Master Roshi had to destroy the moon to prevent Goku from becoming an ape and destroying the planet. At this time, Roshi had a power level of 139, and was able to destroy the moon. During the Frieza Saga, in his final form, Frieza was at a power level of 120,000,000 but for reference, let’s say 100,000,000.
Generally speaking, you would require a power level of 139 to destroy one moon. The Earth has the mass of approximately 81 moons. So to find the power level required to destroy the earth, multiply 139 by 81, which gives you 11,259. That’s a general idea of how much power level is required to destroy one earth.
Goku defeated Frieza, but lets say they have the same power level just to keep it simple.(Although Goku is clearly more powerful, I’m doing this for a general idea.) So goku has a power level at this point (In ssj1 form) of 100,000,000. Ssj1 form is 50x more powerful than that of normal form. 100,000,000 divided by 50 equals 2,000,000. That’s his power level in regular form, not any level of Saiyan, just “Human” form. Ssj3 form (not even going to go to ssj4, not worth it) is 400x more powerful than base form. So…2,000,000 times 400 equals 800,000,000.
Now that we have Goku’s power level in ssj3 form, let’s find his destructive power. If you need a PL of 11,259 to destroy one earth, let’s find out how many Earths Goku could destroy using his full power in one blast. 800,000,000 divided by 11,259 equals 71,054. That’s right, 71 thousand planets the size of earth in one blast.
Remember, this is just a really generalized equation, considering Goku had kept training and became much, MUCH more powerful throughout the Cell saga, all the way up to the end of the Buu saga. His power multiplied by at least 100, considering the strength difference between all of his enemies and so on, but this was just to show you how powerful he actually is, although this is just a fraction of his real power.
He also has IT which is instant transmission, (Basically instant teleports to wherever he’d like to go) Much more fighting and h2h combat training, that’s what he grew up in and that’s a huge part of his fighting style. Also, much more battle-trained cunning, another thing that makes him a great fighter, and not to mention ssj4 form, which is more than double the power of ssj3. STILL, not to forget the fact that he DOES have the dragon balls for any wish he’d like, plus if for whatever reason he is defeated, he just comes back stronger than before. It’s fair to say that they are both great warriors that are a lot more overpowered than they should be, but in this fight Goku would come out victorious.

Ok. I’ve read some of the posts here, quiet a few were just mud slinging and bitching at each other about the two warriors. I think the guy who posted the videos said it best. It all depends on what Universe they are in. If Goku ended up in Supes Universe. He’d get owned, and if Superman ended up in the Dragon World, he’d find himself on the losing end of the fight. There is no Universe to exist that would put them on even grounds, at least, not that I know of. Sure, Goku knows all these moves, and knows Martial Arts, but Supes just doesn’t sit around and not learn moves himself. He does know Boxing. Now, I don’t hate Goku, Hell, I am a huge DBZ fan. But, if some how they ended up in a Universe where they were equal, then it’ll all come down to skills, and stamina. I think, in my humble opinion it’ll be a draw with both warriors too tired to continue the battle, and vow to train harder to over-throw the other, much like Vegeta always vows to over power Goku.

Power Levels

Goku has limitless strength and speed, plus he has the Zenkai ability that says that if a Saiyan gets severely injured, their power level increases drastically when they recover.

Superman Prime may be invulnerable to his usual weaknesses and may be immortal,with enhanced abilities, but Goku would use Instant Transmission to kick the Man of Steel into a red sun, with some kryptonite and a Kamehameha to finish him off. If Superman survived that, Goku would use his knowledge of fighting and battle strategies, along with pure,raw and never-ending power, to turn Superman into a complete mess.

1.You have to think about what universe you’re in and what boundaries there are.
This is why it’s easier to compare DC and Marvel characters, because the boundaries are nearly the same.
The Dragonball universe is a place where if you can control and build your ki, you grow more powerful, that is why normal HUMANS like Krillin and Yamcha and whoever can fly and have all these insane powers. There aren’t any scientific boundaries here.
The DC Universe is a place where there are impossible characters in a completely POSSIBLE world. There are normal scientific boundaries in this universe, so thats why HUMANS like Batman don’t have any insane powers. But, characters like Superman can exceed these limits because of a scientifically based explanations (Supes power from the sun). Get it?
Basically, in the DBZ universe, anyone can master ki and train really hard and get powers. In the DC universe, you can’t have powers unless science or magic will ALLOW you those powers (like some other magical and alien characters in the DCU)
So, if you put Goku in the DC universe, he wouldn’t have as much power as he would in the DBZ universe. This is because Ki doesn’t exist in the DC Universe, so all the other non-alien Z- fighters probably won’t have any powers. If the DBZ characters are put in a place where science is the main factor, they have no powers unless there is a scientific reason. So, Krillin and the other human Z-fighters will have no powers at all, because they humans who aren’t magical or cosmic, just like Batman.
So, correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think Goku has any scientific or magical reason for his powers, other than King Kai and his Super Saiyan and Monkey forms. And even if there is, his powers aren’t amped so high because there is no KI in the DC universe. So, in the DC Universe, Goku loses.
In the DBZ universe, if you have Ki (pretty much anybody) and learn how to manipulate it, you can get blast beams from your hand and fly and communicate telepathically and do whatever the fuck you want, because EVERYBODY CAN USE KI in the DBZ Universe. So, if Superman was in this universe, what’s to stop him from learning how to use Ki? Since humans and Saiyans can use Ki, why can’t a Kryptonian? Hell if Batman mastered Ki and got a shitload of powers, he would pretty much be the biggest badass in the universe. So with this logic, Superman COULD win, because there are no fucking boundaries in the DBZ universe, and who’s to say Superman can’t master Ki. But Goku is more likely to win because there are too many things on his side here. He has all his fucking Saiyan forms, the dragonballs, and his mastery of Ki, so he will most likely win.
Simple solution, create a mesh of these two universes with the same boundaries. Create a universe that doesn’t favor any side. For example, one where both DC’s science and DBZ’s Ki concept exists. Therefore, Superman has all his powers because of the yellow sun. And Goku has all his Saiyan powers and all his Ki-based powers.
BOOM. Universal Equality.
2. Find what version you’re going to use.
Superman has over 70 years of history with a shitload of different versions of him created in that span of time.
Toriyama first wrote about Goku in 1989. Dragonball Z is much younger and there is only one version of Goku. JUST ONE, with a bunch of different power levels.
How would you compare a one version character with a character with a shitload of versions to pick from!!??
Here it is, Goku stomps half of the versions of Superman, is on par with some, and can be beaten by a few.
And even so, even though there’s only one version of Goku, HE HAS A SHITLOAD OF POWER LEVELS!!!!!!! Theres SSJ1-SSJ4 or 5 or 6 or whatever, his Monkey form, his Dragon God form, and other form I probably don’t even fucking know about.

For the Supes fans, I think Superman is on par with Goku and sometime, he exceeds Goku. Here’s the logic:
Energy Attacks:
Superman can take whatever Goku can dish out. Because he is is pure of heart, he can deflect the spirit bomb, Goku’s most powerful attack. As with any other energy attack, Supes has a bioelectric field around his body that can only be disrupted by kryptonite, red sun, or magic. That means he can tank any energy attack by Goku. And on the flip side, Superman’s heat vision can be hotter than the core of the sun, and he can adjust the intensity of the blast at his will. Imagine a heat vision blast hotter and as intense as a kamehameha wave. He can also extend his bioelectric field and create bioelectric bursts which could overload Goku with energy.
Speed and Strength:
Superman’s sheer speed can cause rifts in the space time continuum. He sneezes, and planets explode. Superman’s strength isn’t only muscles, its a combo of muscles and mind. His bioelectric field surrounds everything he touches and allows him to lift and throw virtually anything, no matter what size. Its basically tactile telekinesis. So Supes has sheer strength over Goku. Speed as well, although Goku does have a one up, because of instant transmission, but technically that isn’t speed, it’s teleportation. Goku can try to teleport Supes to a red sun, but he would be able to move Superman an inch.
Intelligence:
Many say Goku has a better strategic mind for battle than Superman. But, he and Batman are basically the tactical powerhouses of the Justice League. Superman has a genius level intellect, he can spot flaws and weaknesses quickly and exploit them. Even if Goku doesn’t have any fighting flaws, Superman can find a way to make himself the better fighter, very quickly.
Fighting Experience:
Superman CAN fight. Batman, who has had like 50 gazillion trainers in every martial arts style taught Superman extensively. And Superman has fought and beat the biggest and best. He’s beaten General Zod, a Kryptonian with all the same powers and more battle experience than him. He’s beaten Darkseid on several occasions, and Darkseid is basically a god. Superman’s dominated WarWorld, a planet full of experienced gladiators and Superman beat every gladiator worthy enough and even humiliated their ruler, Mongul in the arena. Goku is most definitely the superior martial artist, but Superman can make fools out of gods.
God-Form:
Goku and Superman both have all-powerful god forms. Black Star Dragon Goku and Superman Prime One Million. Of all I’ve heard about Goku absorbing Shenron and the Dragonballs, nowhere have I heard that they are powerful enough create or resurrect. Prime can create living beings and entire dimensions out of nothing. He has complete control over space and time, and all his Kryptonian powers are godlike status. His “hearing” and “vision” now make him cosmically aware, meaning he is all-knowing and all-seeing. Let me put it this way, the only being more powerful than Prime One Million is God himself.
But still, in conclusion;
In certain situations, Superman wins.
In certain situations, Goku wins.

No matter what form superman is, if goku uses a universal spirit bomb goku will absorb supermans energy (if it is infinite as some say it is, it just makes the spirit bomb all the more powerful) so even if goku himself isnt stronger than superman (which i highly doubt) his spirit bomb will be of equal strength or higher (probably the latter) so goku wins.
